Midi Pyrénées

The Midi-Pyrénées is made up of eight departments set in the heart of southwestern France.  It has an incredibly wide range of natural sites: from the Pyrenees to the valley of the Dordogne and from Gascony to the Gorges du Tarn; the diversity of its landscapes is equalled only by the wealth of its heritage.  

One of France's most enticing and enchanting regions, the Midi-Pyrénées boasts a rich cultural, historical and natural heritage.

With 1.2% of mountainous land developed for skiing, the French mountain ranges nevertheless offer the largest network of ski slopes in the world.

The Midi-Pyrénées region in southern France is bordered by the regions of Limousin to the north, Auvergne to the northeast, Aquitaine to the southwest and Languedoc to the east. It has two major mountain ranges: the Pyrenees, which form a natural border with Spain in the south, and the Massif Central in the northeast. Midi-Pyrénées is France’s biggest region, with a land area comparable to Denmark’s! Many world-famous towns, breathtaking natural areas and sites and villages outside time and history make up the region’s magnificent heritage.
