Vatel Bangkok’s Bachelor Degree programme in Hotel Management is operated by Silpakorn University International College. The programme has positioned itself at the forefront of hospitality management programmes in Thailand by understanding the needs of hoteliers around the world.
- The impact of globalisation on tourism especially in developing countries means that there are now more international tourists arriving at these destinations (inbound tourism), coinciding with an increase in the amount of people travelling outside of their own country as well (outbound tourism). Traditionally most hotel schools view international as being Western European or North American service standards and there is little consideration to the wants and needs of travellers from emerging nations within Asia, Africa and South America.
- Vatel Bangkok has therefore devised an educational programme that trains students to deal with cross cultural situations, which will improve international service standards for the hospitality industry.
- Throughout the programme students are exposed to cross cultural situations and develop not only management theory in academic sessions but also reinforce the theories during practical classes in kitchen, food and beverage, rooms division and front office operations. In fact practical sessions and training are conducted in two different outlets that are open to the public: Vatel Restaurant and Vatel Café.
- Domestic and international internships also combine to give students a competitive edge with employment upon graduation. Vatel’s international curriculum allows students to develop theoretical and practical based knowledge including hotel internships in France and other international locations. Students also have an opportunity to study at another Vatel school anywhere in the world during their third year through the Marco Polo scheme.
