After receiving four prestigious awards in 2009 (‘World’s Best Hotel’, ‘Europe’s Best Hotel’, ‘World’s Best Luxury Romantic Hotel’ and ‘Europe’s Best Hotel Restaurant’), Hotel Le Bristol could be proud of his Chef Eric Frechon who has awarded a third star Michelin on 2 March 2009. Frechon, whom Nicolas Sarkozy decorated with the French Legion of Honor, last year, describes his menu as traditional French cooking with a modern touch.
To celebrate, Michelin invited Frechon and about 400 guests, including other starred Michelin chefs, VIPs and artists at Musee d'Orsay in Paris. Every year, the French culinary world trembles as the industry's biggest names wait to see who will be the winners and who will fall off their pedestal.
The Fewer than 2,000 restaurants in the world have a Michelin star rating, while only 73 have three stars, and for chefs struggling to market high-end cuisine in an era of austerity, a good write-up can make all the difference.
The reputation of the culinary bible, which started as an aid for French motorists, has taken a hit in recent years with 1.3 million copies of the guides sold every year.
